SOFIA – Gazprom hopes that Nord Stream 2 does not suffer the same fate as the South Stream gas pipeline project, which was halted by Brussels, the Russian gas giant’s CEO Alexei Miller said after a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

“Apparently not,” Miller said when asked whether Nord Stream 2 could suffer the fate of South Stream.

Regarding the TurkStream pipeline project, he said: “The South Stream project wasn’t implemented for well-known reasons, while TurkStream was realized not only by tight deadlines, but even ahead of schedule. All the lines of the new offshore gas pipeline through the Black Sea were built ahead of the deadline.”
