You're reading: Group of Navalny supporters detained in Murmansk

The police have detained seven supporters of Alexei Navalny in Murmansk, the opposition activist’s local headquarters said on social media on March 15.

According to the headquarters, Yury Fomin, the organizer of the unauthorized protest on January 28, and six opposition activists who took part in it were detained on March 14 evening.

“They are drawing up protocols based on Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Violations (violations of the established procedures governing the organization of an assembly, a rally, a demonstration, or a march). A protocol is being drawn up against Yury Fomin based on Part 1 of Article 20.2,” the report said.

According to the headquarters, the detainees were taken to the Murmansk police’s Department No. 1, and they were detained “overnight until the trial.”

Interfax has not received official comments from Murmansk law enforcement.
