Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili’s health has worsened on the eighth day of a hunger strike that he has declared at the prison in Rustavi, lawyer Beka Basilaya said after visiting Saakashvili in prison.
“Misha [Saakashvili] is morally cheerful, but his health has been worsening on the eighth day of his hunger strike, which is quite natural,” Basilaya said.
The prison administration has allowed Saakashvili a meeting with his family members, he said.
“Such a meeting should supposedly take place on Oct. 11,” Basilaya said.
The media has reported that Saakashvili’s mother and two children want to meet with him.
