MINSK – Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has invited Russia’s Sberbank to invest in a number of major projects in Belarus, the Belarusian state-run news agency BelTA said.

“Just like it was in the Soviet era, we want to make a list of innovative facilities to be built within the next five-year period. It is necessary to agree on funding, so that their construction does not drag on for long. I would like to discuss some of those projects with you,” Lukashenko told Sberbank of Russia CEO Herman Gref at a meeting in Minsk on July 4.

“If Sberbank is ready to take part in this big undertaking, we will be glad to welcome your funding of vast amounts of our economy,” he said.
