MINSK – About 3000 Russian troops were redeployed to Belarus to take part in the Zapad 2017 exercise, with all of them arriving by the time maneuvers began, the Belarusian Defense Ministry said.

“This is around 3000 troops. There will be no other units here”, ministry spokesman Vladimir Makarov said at a briefing in Minsk on Sept.15.

“Those still waiting for more military trains from Russia are doing so in vain”, Makarov said.
