CHISINAU – The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration said that on Dec. 18 that it has recalled its Ambassador to Russia, Andrei Neguta, for the indefinite term.

The decision was made “because of persecutions and intimidations by the Russian authorities of Moldovan officials and politicians, the recent rise in such cases and the absence of any reaction from Russian authorities to official Moldovan queries about such cases,” the ministry said in a statement.

Such actions “could somewhat spoil Moldovan-Russian relations, which the Moldovan side wants to be friendly and based on trust and respect for one another,” the ministry said.

“In discussions we will be seeking ways to resolve this situation,” the ministry said.
