Poland’s already troubled relations with the U.S. and Israel took yet another tumble this week thanks to the return of a very old problem — compensation for property lost under the Nazis and communists. The Polish parliament amended an existing law by setting a 30-year time limit on legal challenges to restitution claims and ending outstanding claims for the return of seized property that have not reached a final decision in the last 30 years — effectively cutting off many cases.
