Moldovan President Maia Sandu has announced a readiness to intensify bilateral contacts with Russia and to resume negotiations on settling the Transdniestrian conflict.
“I reaffirmed the strong determination of the Republic of Moldova to resume the process of settling the conflict exclusively by peaceful and political-diplomatic methods on existing negotiating platforms with all due respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country within its internationally recognized borders,” Sandu said on Facebook following a meeting with Russian Presidential Deputy Chief of Staff Dmitry Kozak in Chisinau on Wednesday evening.
“We have a vast bilateral agenda with the Russian Federation and a lot of topics of mutual interest for our states and citizens. We discussed them during today’s meeting and stand ready to continue their detailed consideration, including by intensifying bilateral contacts. We assessed the Russian side’s readiness to intensify them, a move that will help strengthen the dialogue between our countries,” she said.
During the meeting, “we reaffirmed our commitment to pursuing a pragmatic and constructive dialogue for the benefit of our citizens,” Sandu said.
“We discussed a number of important topics on the agenda of our bilateral relations, including the export of Moldovan agricultural products to the Russian market and a new contract on gas deliveries to our country,” the Moldovan president said.
