MINSK – The latest women’s protest, dubbed Women’s Peace March, is taking place in downtown Minsk on Sept. 5.
According to witnesses and Belarusian media outlets, the participants in the rally have gathered outside the Komarovsky market and then marched towards Independence Avenue.
“Plain-clothed law enforcement officers with portable two-way radios are walking among the protestors and aren’t reprimanding anyone,” the tut.by website said.
Some women are carrying banners, flowers, and white and red flags. Several people are carrying foreign flags. Drivers of cars passing by are honking their car horns in support of the protesters.
