The European Union intends not only to help Ukraine in its recovery, but also to contribute to the full realization of its enormous potential.

That’s according to the European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, who spoke in Strasbourg on Wednesday in her State of the Union address to the plenary session of the European Parliament, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“I want us to mobilize the full power of our Single Market to help accelerate growth and create opportunities. In March, we connected successfully Ukraine to our electricity grid. It was initially planned for 2024. But we did it within two weeks. And today, Ukraine is exporting electricity to us. I want to significantly expand this mutually beneficial trade.

We have already suspended import duties on Ukrainian exports to the EU. We will bring Ukraine into our European free roaming area. Our solidarity lanes (for the export of Ukrainian grain – ed.) are a big success,” von der Leyen stressed, noting that it is time to move forward based on that.

As already reported, on September 14 in Strasbourg, the President of the European Commission delivered at the European Parliament an annual State of the Union address.
