You're reading: 112.ua: Vyshyvanka Run – Major sports event on Ukraine’s Independence Day

Vyshyvanka Run will take place in Kyiv on the Day of Independence of Ukraine, on August 24. Apart from a 1 km charity run, the adults may choose to run the marathons for 5 and 10 km, while the children run 100 meters.

The collected funds shall be spent on the sportswear for the students of Complex Youth Athletic Center #1 of Bakhmut City Council (Donetsk region, Ukraine-controlled area, – 112 International). 1,200 children and teenagers study 13 disciplines there: field-and-track athletics, volleyball, boxing, kickboxing, football, basketball, ping pong, powerlifting, freestyle wrestling, judo, sumo, sambo, shooting sports. The school graduates achieve prominent results: there’s a bronze medalist at London Olympic games in 2012, and also prize winners of numerous championships, European Cups and World Cups.
