Bob Moses

Canadians Tom Howie and Jimmy Vallance went to the same middle and high school in Vancouver, but it wasn’t until years after graduation that they discovered a common passion for music far away from home, in New York. Days after the momentous meeting they changed all their plans in order to work together. Howie’s rock background and Vallance’s electronic history collided in an exceptional mélange that created the band’s individual style. They named the group after Robert Moses – a famous New York urban developer – to pay respect to the city where they find inspiration and create. All their records have enjoyed critical acclaim, yet their debut LP “Days Gone By” brought wide recognition to the band. One of its songs, “Tearing Me Up,” topped the alternative music charts and was nominated for two Grammy awards, winning one for a remix. Bob Moses has hit the stages of some of the best music festivals around the world, and now they’re coming to Kyiv to present their recent releases: 2018’s “Battle Lines” LP and the 2019 “Unplugged” EP.

Deserving special attention for lead actor roles are “The Farewell” with Golden Globe winner Awkwafina and “The Waves” with breakout performances by Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Taylor Russel, both awarded by the African-American Film Critics Association. The festival also offers free screenings of nine documentary films for those who register, including “The Dawn Wall” and “RBG.” One special screening will show “Apollo 11,” a documentary using previously unreleased footage of humanity’s mission to land on the moon.
