‘Rocketman’
For those who enjoyed the Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody” released in 2018, the director Dexter Fletcher has prepared another biographical film based on the life of musician Elton John. “Rocketman” premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on May 16. Although the film was banned in Samoa and censored in Russia due to its gay sex scenes, it has received positive reviews from critics worldwide. “Rocketman” is an honest, heartfelt tribute to Elton John’s music and his public image,” according to one critic’s review of the movie. The film is named after the musician`s song “Rocket Man” released in 1972. It stars the U.K. actor and singer Taron Egerton as Elton John, as well as Jamie Bell and Richard Madden. “Rocketman” has already grossed $110 million worldwide and now the film will be screened at Kyiv`s Zhovten Cinema in English.

Blooms Corda
Praised by music critics and loved by dedicated fans, lady- killers from Ukrainian band Blooms Corda will give a rare show in Kyiv. The band will play its sophisticated indie funk rhythms just as the perfect soundtrack to a hot and languorous summer night in Kyiv. The show will take place on a charming terrace with a picturesque view of Vsi Svoi D12 venue. After Blooms Corda’s performance, the evening will continue with a set by DJ Miura and cocktails. The big bonus is that the whole thing is free.

Cigarettes After Sex
The U.S. based dream-pop band Cigarettes After Sex will hit the stage of Kyiv`s Atlas on June 14. Formed back in 2008, the band became known for its love- themed songs and deep vocals of its founder Greg Gonzalez. The band released its first extended play “I.” in 2012 with the hit “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby,” and the debut studio album in 2017. This will be the band’s second music show in Ukraine’s capital after they presented the debut album in 2018.

Ostrov Festival
The hottest rave of the summer returns from the beaches of Odesa to Kyiv’s Trukhaniv island this year to keep the local and visiting clubbers up three days and two nights in a row. The open-air party will feature DJs from around the world that play different genres of electronic music, including the headliners Amelie Lens, Henrik Shwarz, Worakls, Sonja Moonear and Nolah. The festival will have three stages, bars, food courts and art zones. Just remember to sleep and rave responsibly.
