Nechto: Nastia, Orbe, Deniro B2B Dimi Angelis

One of Ukraine’s most renowned DJs, Anastasia Topolskaia, better known by her stage name Nastia, is launching a party series in Kyiv. Named after her label, Nechto, the first event will feature a rare set in Ukraine by Nastia herself, whose schedule is packed with gigs all over the globe. Apart from Nastia, the party lineup includes three foreign stars – a novelty for the local electronic music scene, where events usually bring up to two artists from abroad and provide a backup by the Ukrainian DJs. Spanish techno experimentalist Orbe will give a live set. Legendary Dutch artist Dimi Angelis, whose influence shaped contemporary Amsterdam techno, will play back-to-back with fellow countryman, techno artist Deniro.

Kyivness

Kyiv’s most sophisticated market is opening the season on the first weekend of spring. Kyivness, which promotes sustainable fashion, will as usual bring together local brands and vintage sellers that offer clothes, shoes, accessories, books and goods for home. On the entertainment side, the upcoming market will join efforts with Fusion, a series of jam sessions that will give a platform to Ukrainian musicians at the event. They will improvise playing the fusion jazz genre – a mix of classic jazz harmonies with funk, soul, hip-hop and R’n’B rhythms. Kyivness has also prepared exhibitions, lectures, food and drinks.

Jungle Brown

Great news for the fans of British Jungle Brown trio – the band will hit the stage of Kyiv’s Caribbean Club this March. Known for the wild mixture of hip hop with live sax and jazzy melodies, Jungle Brown has become a real sensation after the release of their debut album “Flight 314,” which is praised by rap and hip-hop fans around the globe. In Kyiv, Jungle Brown will present their latest album “Full Circle,” released in 2019.

HeForShe Arts Week

A series of events aimed at advancing gender equality in Ukraine, HeForShe Arts Week in Kyiv will feature art exhibitions, film screenings and theater performances. America House will host two exhibits by young Ukrainian female artists looking at the importance of women’s soul-searching and self-reflection – “Listening to Self” and “Eliminated Archive.” “Construct Gender,” an art installation by the well-known Ukrainian artist Alevtina Kakhidze at the National Art Museum of Ukraine (NAMU), will invite the audience to explore the complexities of gender. The Austrian Portrait Theater group will explore the theme of past and present obstacles for women in science in their English-language play “Curie-Meitner-Lamarr-Indivisible” at the Koleso Theater. And “Oh Les Filles!,” a documentary film about the phenomenal French female rock singers of the 1970s will be screened at the Cinema House in original French. Other events, like lectures at Port Creative Hub, Kakhidze’s posters in the metro and an interactive lighting installation by the Kyiv Academy of Media Arts at NAMU, will take place around Kyiv from March 8th to 15th.
