Khrystyna Soloviy (folk, pop)

This 24-year-old singer was born in western Ukraine in a family of musicians and since the very young age was surrounded by the sound of Ukrainian folk songs. She performs only in Ukrainian, writes her own lyrics and proves that Ukrainian music can be both modern and authentic.

‘Berlin Syndrome’

The new mystery drama “Berlin Syndrome” based on the novel by young and promising Australian writer Melanie Joosten, is about to hit cinemas. It’s a story of an Australian journalist that comes to Berlin for vacation and gets involved in a love affair. But her new passion turns out to be a nightmare as one day she wakes up and finds herself locked up in an apartment and unable to leave. Terrifying yet beautiful, the film was one of the must-sees at the Sundance Film Festival this year.

Hans Christian Andersen’s festive classic fairytale is retold through the art of ballet. The story follows a young girl Gerda searching for her closest friend Kai, kidnapped by the powerful and cold-hearted Snow Queen. The music in the show is by Oleksiy Baclan and Aniko Rahiashvili.

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” was written in 16th century by William Shakespeare, yet it is still appealing to modern audience. The comedy consists of four interconnecting storylines, connected by a celebration of the wedding of the Amazon queen. The screening of the play recorded at the Globe Theater in London will be in English with Ukrainian subtitles.
