Sting and Shaggy

English pop musician Sting, together with Jamaican reggae musician Shaggy will hit the stage of Kyiv’s Palace of Sports on Nov. 14. The music show is a part of their world tour in support of a new collaborative album “44/876”, which was released in April 2018. The album’s name reflects the calling codes of the United Kingdom and Jamaica  – 44, and 876, and features 12 reggae songs, including “Don’t Make Me Wait” and “Gotta Get Back My Baby.” The performance will be accompanied by guitar music by Dominic and Rufus Miller, as well as drums by Josh Freese, and with and other musicians from Sting’s and Shaggy’s bands.

‘Bernstein on Broadway’

“Bernstein on Broadway” is a live music show dedicated to the anniversary of Leonard Bernstein, the U.S. composer, conductor and pianist, whose parents were born in Ukraine. Bernstein won worldwide acclaim for creating music for the operas “Candide” and “A Quiet Place”, the musicals “Peter Pan” and “West Side Story”, as well as the ballet “Fancy Free” and many other works. The “Bernstein on Broadway” music show invites U.S. musicians such as Kurt Ollman, Mackenzie Thomas and John Ferguson to perform some of the best known of Bernstein’s hits at Ukrainian Radio Recording House in Kyiv, on Nov. 18.

‘Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams’

Good news for Ukrainian fans of British alternative rock band Coldplay – a new documentary about the band will be screened in Kyiv. “Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams” reconstructs the band’s journey from playing in small underground pubs to rocking stadiums all over the world. Directed by British filmmaker Mat Whitecross, the movie also focuses on the strong bonds of friendship that the members of Coldplay created over 22 years. The film will be screened in English.

Am I Jazz? Festival

The third festival of jazz and jazz-inspired music Am I Jazz is about to kick off in Kyiv. British pianist and composer Alfa Mist, the U.S. Matthew Shipp Trio, Jazzworkshop Orchestra, the U.S. bandleader Steven Feifke and Ukrainian trumpeter Dennis Adu will perform on the festival stage located in Kyiv’s underground nightclub Closer. Save festival dates on Nov. 16-18 to enjoy the music of freedom.
