‘Woman’

A new documentary called “Woman” spotlights the injustices women from all around the globe are facing every day. Directed by French Yann Arthus-Bertrand and Ukraine-born Anastasia Mikova, the documentary is a compilation of interviews with 2,000 women across 50 different countries. Each of them talks about their feelings and problems they face daily. Some interviews are fun, and some, on the other hand, are serious and even difficult to watch since many women share stories of being harassed or sexually abused. All women interviewed remain anonymous but the audience can see their faces. The film premiered in March 2020 in Paris. As Milkova presented the documentary, she said she hoped it could create a shift in the perception of womanhood as well as she wanted men to discover women’s lives.  The film will be screened at Kyiv’s Zhovten cinema in English with Ukrainian subtitles.

Kurazh Anniversary: 5 Years

Kyiv-based charity flea-market Kurazh turns five years this October. To celebrate its birthday Kurazh is arranging a two-day fair on October 10-11. This time the celebration will be a little bit different from the previous years, as according to the COVID-19 quarantine rules there should be no huge crowds and all visitors are asked to wear masks. However, the quarantine rules should not stop visitors from having fun. Apart from the usual flea-market, there will be dance parties and various attractions for both children and adults. Also, organizers encourage everyone to put on “weird costumes” and enjoy the celebration to the fullest.
