Rhythm Büro: Bassiani Label Night

 Since its start in 2015 as a series of local parties, Rhythm Büro has grown into a big techno festival with numerous fans and an impressive lineup. This time the organizers are collaborating with Georgian music label Bassiani. Techno artists from the label such as Cassegrain, Neel, Acronym, Zesknel and Ndrx will perform live on the terrace of the D12 art hall.

GogolFest

The annual festival of modern art GogolFest kicks off on Sept. 7. During the 10 days of the festival, visitors can attend music, dance and alternative theater performances and see  art installations, and graphic and audiovisual works by Ukrainian artists. The highlights of the festival will be performances by Ukrainian folk quartet DakhaBrakha, theatrical music band Dakh Daughters, and the contemporary opera “Kovcheg.”

Exhibition of young artistseg_fetishxo_bohdan-kravchenkoFetishxo, an exhibition of the works of young Ukrainian and German artists, will open on Sept. 7 in the recently created Akt art gallery at Platforma Art Factory on the left bank. 50 artists will present their collages, engravings, paintings, media art and computer graphics about “questionable values of the modern generation,” according to organizers.

‘Art Against Corruption’

During the “Art Against Corruption” festival, which is to be held at various locations in Kyiv, nine other Ukrainian cities and in Chisinau (Moldova) on Sept. 8-14, visitors will be able to see the films, theater plays and modern artworks devoted to corruption. In Kyiv, one can visit art exhibition “Grey cube” in the Center Of Visual Culture and see the movies “Child’s Pose” by Romanian director Calin Peter Netzer and Paolo Sorrentino’s “Il Divo.” The festival is organized by German Goethe-Institut.

 Trash Wknd

Kinove, the independent distributor of intellectual and esthetic auteur cinema in Ukraine, is launching a bold movie festival in Kyiv – Trash Wknd. The festival will screen four films by American, French and Mexican directors. The movies include elements of arthouse, horror, comedy, and erotica. The screenings will be in original languages with Ukrainian subtitles. Festival attendees must be over 18.

John le Carré – An Evening with George Smiley

A live appearance by British writer John le Carré at The Royal Festival Hall in London will be broadcast live to cinemas across the UK and Europe, including the Multiplex cinema in Kyiv. The world-famous novelist will share the secrets behind the creation of his most beloved character – George Smiley from the novels “Call for the Dead,” “A Murder of Quality” and others. The event will also include readings of le Carré’s new novel – “A Legacy of Spies.”
