Clubbers to dance all day and night this weekend at Chayka
No less than 30,000 clubbers are expected to show up at Chayka airfield this weekend to party at the Global Gathering Ukraine fest – a grand open-air event, taking place in Eastern Europe for the first time ever this year.
A sold out event every year since its launch in 2000, Global Gathering has become the world’s undisputed champion of dance festivals. In 2006, a record breaking 75,000 people partied at the renowned Long Marston Airfield (Stratford-on-Avon, Great Britain) for over two days. The event became the biggest dance and live music weekend on the planet.
As for the upcoming Global Gathering Ukraine, it promises a super-sized line-up of the finest DJ talent on earth, great live acts, state-of-the-art sound systems and amusement attractions. Cutting edge electronic music will have the dance arenas shaking day and night: groovy house and hot progressive, piercing electro and stylish minimal, euphoric trance and pumping drum and bass are all included in the program.
Among the masters to take their places at the turnstiles are: Sasha & John Digweed, playing a back-to-back set for the first time in Eastern Europe; James Zabiela of ONE+ONE duo, performing solo; Gabriel & Dresden, named “Best American DJs” at Miami Winter Music Conference this year; Erick Morillo, best known American house deejay, resident and art-director for Pacha NY and one of the World’s 20 best DJs (DJ magazine poll). Also, the guests will be able to enjoy the so-called “deep-sexy-futuristic-tech-funk-house” from its inventor, Danny Howells, founder of the Get Physical label; Green Velvet, the pioneer of Chicago tech-house; SCSI 9 (LIVE), an electronic band from Moscow with a live performance, including guitar and female vocals, as well as James Algate, Paul Thomas, Micky Slim and Eston – the famous residents of Godskitchen and Global Gathering festivals.
The Ukrainian line-up for the fest was announced on June 9, at the TopDJ Awards 2006/2007 ceremony. Currently it includes five top deejays – winners of voting on TopDJ.ua: Kon, Sender, Light, Move, Chief MC, regional winners of rating: Jazzy (Donetsk), Mays (Odessa), Yaryk (Dnipropetrovsk), Spartaque (Kharkiv) and also Binokl, Slava Flash, Beauty, Tapolsky, Dynamite, Zezick, Diesel, Arseniy, Woofer, Cross & Yura Kex, Bruno, Digital Mono and Kristin. The latter won the DJ competition for the best mix played for the Global Gathering Ukraine festival. In the opinion of expert judges, her electro-tech mix beat works by other participants (about 100 were considered) due to her excellent non-commercial and actual material. The competition was held on May 31 at www.topdj.ua.
Apart from music, Global Gathering Ukraine will provide you with everything one needs for a cool massive party: a huge entertainment park, comfortable bars, barbeque, parking etc. The guests coming to the fest from other Ukrainian cities or even abroad will be offered tourist services, including special discounts and complete information about transportation and accommodation at the festival.
