You're reading: How to hire a nanny

Find yourself a nanny in Kyiv.

If you need someone to take care of your children while you’re away, but don’t want to send them to daycare, you should hire a nanny. Hiring a nanny by advertisement is not a good idea, because you will end up having to interview many candidates and may not find one you like. But even after you have checked the candidate’s documents you can’t be sure that she won’t clean out your apartment. That is why it’s better to apply to agencies that deal with hiring nannies. These agencies do background checks on all their potential nannies. They also check medical histories, take HIV blood tests and check their recommendations. One of these hiring agencies is Arinushka (332-9466, www.arinushka.kiev.ua). In addition to a nanny you can hire a governess, housemaid, gardener, driver, and personal teacher for your child through the agency. Another company is Dom Servis (15 Maryna Raskova, office 810, 227-1585, www.domservice.com.ua). This agency also offers household staff such as housekeepers, cooks and others. Hiring a nanny through any of these companies will cost you between Hr 12 and Hr 15 per one hour of work. You will also have to pay a one-time payment of 50 percent of the nanny’s monthly salary to the agency. If for some reason in half a year you would like to change your nanny, the agency will have to provide you with another one for free.
