Ukraine’s rock legends Okean Elzy released a new single yesterday ahead of their first studio album and world tour in years.
Few things can take Ukrainians’ minds off things as well as an Okean Elzy tune and OE fans have a new one to get down to after the legendary group released ‘Vesna’ (‘Spring’) ahead of the spring drop of its new album and World Tour beginning in May.
Filmed in Kyiv, the unique video for ‘Vesna’ recounts a snowman looking to find his partner before melting upon spring’s arrival.
The song was scheduled to be released on January 28th – “exactly one calendar month before the arrival of spring”, the group noted on its website, but premiered on YouTube on the evening of January 27th.
The video has racked up nearly 250,000 views in its first 48 hours.
Spring has been a common theme in OE songs in years pasts, with hits like “Maizhe Vesna” (“Almost Spring”) and “Misto Vesny” (“City of Spring”) covering the theme.
“Perhaps, since I was born and took my first breath in spring, this is part of my subconscious”, said OE frontman Svyatoslav Vakurchuk.
“For me, this time is something incredible. I live for spring; to feel it again, both literally and figuratively. This is a very important moment in my life every year”.
