Ukrainian designer to show her works at Paris Fashion WeekEmpty Cutline !!!
This summer, Ukrainian designer Veronika Jeanvie will present her collection alongside legendary designer names during the haute couture Paris Fashion Week. This is happening not without the help of her new business partner and patron, renowned fashion designer Paco Rabanne. A little while ago, Rabanne announced that he and Jeanvie were collaborating on a clothing line. According to the official story, the two met in Paris through mutual acquaintances, and later Rabanne came to Kyiv to see the presentation of Jeanvie’s new collection, “Ethnomania,” and was greatly impressed with her works.
It’s hard to say what exactly made such a great impression on the designer, especially considering that as someone who is a frequent guest of the world’s top designer shows, he’s not that easy to surprise, and to my mind Jeanvie’s works don’t seem especially innovative. However, she indeed has a pretty face and a beautiful French surname, apart from a striking designer talent, as Rabanne finds it. Perhaps all of that together tempted Rabanne to unite forces with her, thinking that the company of a young lady from an exotic country such as Ukraine can help boost his own popularity.
One way or another, Jeanvie will show her haute couture collection on July 4 in Paris, on the same day as such world famous brands as Dior, Chanel and Gaultier. The collection of Veronika Jeanvie is called “Steel Clouds” and will include two parts: one showing outfits made of leather and fur, with metal elements, and the other comprised of chic dresses.
To help his protege get properly prepared for the Paris show, Paco Rabanne flew to Kyiv to personally conduct a casting of models on June 8. Out of 100 models from different modeling agencies, he picked a lucky 10 to demonstrate Jeanvie’s works on the French catwalk.
As for the collaborative collection of female clothing by the Ukrainan and French designers, it will appear under the brand name Veronika Jeanvie & Paco Rabanne, and will be presented in Kyiv, Moscow and Paris in October 2007.
