You're reading: Planetarium opens with a new screen

Kyiv’s Planetarium has reopened after an upgrade, providing an option for exciting and educational leisure time.

Equipped with ATMASFERA 360, a new cinema with a 360-degree spherical screen, it can now show movies about all things stellar, as well as underwater life and dinosaurs.

The screen, which is 830 square meters, was unveiled in early December. Professor Vasyl Kucherets, head of Znaniye (Knowledge) academic society, says ATMASFERA 360 will educate children and adults in a fun way because “the process of learning is rooted in pleasure.”

So far, ATMASFERA 360 has three movies to show (in Russian): “The Dawn of the Space Age” is about the first space flights, “The Realm of Light” is a reflection on evolution, and “Kaluoka’hina. The Enchanted Reef”, is a animation about a vanishing reef.

The space puzzle is one of the new interactive gadgets in Planetarium.

A panoramic screen by the entrance displays photos, videos and historical facts.

Parade of the Planets game invites visitors to set the Solar System right.

All decor of the Planetarium is brand-new.

The Planetarium features a Space Cafe.
