You're reading: Rihanna wears Ukrainian designer for red carpet

For a long time, traditional embroidered shirt vyshyvanka was the only Ukrainian fashion item seen on the world-famous stars.

So it came as a surprise when American pop diva Rihanna showed off an outfit by Ukrainian brand Marianna Senchina on the red carpet in Madrid, Spain on Sept. 23.

In Spain, Robyn Rihanna Fenty who performs under the name Rihanna was presenting her new make-up brand Fenty Beauty. She wore a romantic pink top and white puffed skirt from the designer’s Spring-Summer Collection 2018.

Ukrainian designer Senchina showed her first collection in 2014 at the Mercedes-Benz Kiev Fashion Days’ Fashion Scout platform. She runs the brand Marianna Senchina together with her twin sister Natalia.

 

Senchina said to Ukrainian media that after she presented her collection at the Mercedes-Benz Kiev Fashion Days, a stylist working for Rihanna and model Bella Hadid reached out to her and asked for several outfits. Senchina’s press service has not responded to the Kyiv Post’s comment request by the time of the publication.

In her collections, Senchina often goes for volant sleeves, bright colors, prints and oversized shapes.

In 2017, Senchina made it to the list of 10 best emerging designers by The Next Talents project organized by Vogue Italy and Yoox.com.
