You're reading: Sicily bags 58 – 62

Dolce & Gabbana has a long and reverential relationship with the brand’s Sicily bags. Sicily first came out in 2009 and since then, the Italian brand designers have been tirelessly working on new variations for their signature collection of bags. Sicily totes come in all kinds of materials, including lace, canvas and even alligator leather. This season, the brand decided not to indulge into daring experiments, focusing instead on timeless classics. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana presented two new models of the iconic bag and named them Sicily 58 and Sicily 62. The figures in the names of the models are the years of birth of the designers. This may seem a bit presumptuous, but also very Italian – after all, it were Domenico and Stefano who gave the world of fashion one of the most functional and, at the same time, elegant bags, which certainly is something to be proud of.

The new Sicily 58 and Sicily 62 differ in shape. The first is almost a classical model, which in addition to the customary front flap with the coveted Dolce & Gabbana logo plate now has outer layer compartment with a flap featuring the debossed logo. This means that you can carry the bag not in two, but at least four ways, as the bag inherited the detachable shoulder straps attached to the golden cylinders from the classic Sicily.

As for Sicily 62, that’s a tote bag that is ideal for the city. A more structured geometric shape makes the bag somewhat stricter than its numerous ‘relatives’ from the Sicily family, but the Italian charm is there nonetheless.

Not only the ideal look and history make the new bags iconic. The new bags are made of French and Swiss fine leather and the choice of color is so diverse that it won’t be easy to pick just one: red, pink, ocher, emerald green, deep black look so tempting that you will inevitably want to become a collector of the new “Sicilian art”.
