Kamianets-Podilsky received 250,000 tourists in January-August, Mayor of the city Mykhailo Positko has told Interfax-Ukraine on the sidelines of the International Summit of Mayors.

“Before the pandemic, the tourist flow in the city ranged from 450,000 to 500,000 per year. Since the beginning of this year, we have already recorded about 250,000. Of course, there is a decline, primarily due to foreign tourists. But we see an increase in domestic tourism,” he said.

According to Positko, organized tourism, including school tourism, is also recovering.

“The peculiarity of this year: if earlier the peak month was May, now September is almost equal to it,” he said.

The mayor sees the task of increasing the duration of tourists’ stay in Kamianets-Podilsky. Today, day trips provide the lion’s share of tourists.

“In addition to the city itself, we have many locations around – Bakota, Khotyn. Now the hotel room stock is about 2,500 beds, it is gradually increasing,” Positko said.
