This year, Ukraine’s biggest music festival Atlas Weekend returns on July 5-11 in a new “Friends Edition” format, featuring performers mostly from Ukraine.
When the organizers realized that this year they once again won’t be able to bring the Western headliners announced earlier, they decided to run the festival with local stars. In 2020, the festival was canceled altogether.
The six-day festival’s line-up features over 80 musicians, including Ukrainian rock legends Okean Elzy, French record producer Dj Snake, English musician Fatboy Slim, Ukraine’s representative at Eurovision 2007 Verka Serduchka, electronic rock band The Hardkiss, Russian singer of Georgian descent Valery Meladze, a representative at Eurovision 2006 Tina Karol, hip-hop and rock music Boombox, Ukrainian rap star Alyona Alyona, winner of the Eurovision 2016 Jamala and many others.
The festival has been held annually in Kyiv since 2015, having missed the year 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. In 2019, it brought together more than 250 artists on eight stages and around 538,000 visitors. Among the performers were Black Eyed Peas, ATB, Tom Odell, Tom Walker, Everlast, UNKLE and many others.
Since invited music legends such as Twenty One Pilots, Alt-J, SKYND, ASAP Rocky, Placebo can’t make it to the festival this year due to the pandemic-related travel restrictions, they were rescheduled for the 2022 festival. Tickets are already sold for the Atlas Weekend 2022 festival.
Something else will change at the festival this year: There will be no “night stage” and no dancing all night due to both noise and quarantine restrictions.
The festival’s performances will be held on six stages: Main Stage, West Stage, East Stage, North Stage, Garden Stage and Electronic Stage.
There will be a COVID-19 vaccination point at the festival, where anyone can get vaccinated with the Chinese CoronaVac (Sinovac) vaccine from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m on July 5-11 in the Pavilion No. 9 of the VDNH exhibition complex. Pre-registration is available here.
Guests aren’t allowed to bring any food or drinks to the festival, but there will be food courts with dozens of Kyiv restaurants represented, including The Burger Mexico, Salateira, Pie Spot, Alltrueeast, Kung Po, Come & Stay, and others.
All the concerts will be held strictly till 11 p.m. due to noise regulations. On the first two days, the visitors can stay until 12 a.m. and until 2 a.m on the other days. The entrance to the first two days of the festival, July 5-6, is free by pre-registration. The line-up is the same on both days.
