Ukraine’s most popular techno party Cxema (pronounced “Skhema”) will on August 16 take over one of the best techno clubs in the world – Berghain, in the German capital Berlin.
The team behind the rave announced the event on their Facebook page on July 15. Two Ukrainian and three foreign DJs are scheduled to perform and the entrance cost will be announced later.
Cxema attracts thousands of ravers to its events. It takes place three to five times a year at unusual locations, such as Dovzhenko Center (a film archive and former film copying factory) or the Gavan skatepark.
The first Cxema was organized in Kyiv in 2014. Later, the party would become an essential part of Kyiv’s underground culture, with its team deciding to broaden the geography and launching a Cxema Backstage party that is a version of the original rave, taking place outside of Kyiv.
Cxema Backstage has already taken place in Lviv, a city of 720,000 people approximately 540 kilometers west of Kyiv. The rave has also been held in Poland, Germany and Lithuania.
The rave has already shaken Berlin’s Tresor club in 2017. It is now coming back to what is widely seen as the capital of electronic music to take on Berghain.
Opened in 2004, Berghain is considered as one of the main destinations for Berlin techno culture. It was recently recognized as the best club in the world by DJ Magazine, a British monthly magazine covering the electronic music world.
Berghain’s main dance floor can hold nearly 1,500 partygoers. All the club’s visitors have to pass face identification control at the entrance and they are not allowed to take photos inside.
The well-known Ukrainian DJs Nastya Muravyova and Voin Oruwu (Dmitriy Avksentiev) are on the rave’s lineup.
According to the Mixmag online publication, both Muravyova and Avksentiev have given DJ sets at Cxema before. They have also both spun records for parties put on by Boiler Room, an online music broadcasting platform that’s popular worldwide.
Apart from Ukrainian DJs, Russian-born DJ Inga Mauer based in the Netherlands, German-based DJs M.E.S.H (United States) and Hyperactivist (Venezuela) will give sets in Berghain.
The fans of electronic music can listen to the recordings of Cxema’s DJ sets on their SoundCloud playlist.
The tickets to Cxema in Berghain will be available to buy at the entrance.
