One of Ukraine’s most popular DJs, Anastasia Topolskaia, better known by her stage name Nastia, has become a resident of the United Kingdom’s BBC Radio 1.
She will give a series of six shows for the radio’s listeners that will offer both the DJ’s music picks and a look into her world as an artist.
Topolskaia’s first show will air on Sept. 9.
“Growing up as an artist, being on BBC Radio 1 was the highest point of success I could dream about. It’s a legend, a monster, making so many artists huge and important,” the DJ said in a statement published on the BBC Radio 1 website.
Topolskaia started her career as a DJ in 2005. Over the course of 14 years, she grew to become one of Ukraine’s most popular DJs, playing gigs all over the world.
“Though predominantly known as a Techno DJ, Nastia also explores a range of sounds in her sets, including Jungle, D&B and House,” reads the announcement of Topolskaia’s residency on the BBC Radio 1 website.
The radio station will air six hour-long shows featuring Topolskaia. In them, the DJ will play records from her collection, as well as share her thoughts about the industry and the DJ life.
“What can you expect from me? Different things! I like to surprise!” Topolskaia’s statement reads.
The show will air on Monday once a month starting from September and ending in February.
Apart from Topolskaia, seven more DJs, “the biggest names in dance music,” were picked to be residents of BBC Radio 1 in 2019-2020. The list includes DJ Charlotte de Witte from Belgium, Denis Sulta from Scottland, Jayda G from Canada and others.
