For the first time in its 23-year history, Ukrainian Fashion Week will be available to anyone who wants to watch.
The four-day event, scheduled for Feb. 5-8, will stream 28 shows through the Megogo film streaming service for viewers to watch for free.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ukrainian Fashion Week will hold runway shows without an audience, only allowing access for working media.
The February edition of the biannual event is normally a platform for presenting the fall-winter collections. But with the transformations 2020 brought to the industry, Ukrainian Fashion Week is continuing to avoid the seasonality approach. Just like in its previous edition, held in September-August 2020, the event was announced under the “No Season 2021” title.
The approach allows brands to showcase any collections without being limited by seasonality, all the while making the industry more sustainable.
“Our main goal for the new season is a special format that makes us most useful for the Ukrainian designers in these hard times,” Iryna Danylevska, a co-founder and chairman of the Ukrainian Fashion Week organizing committee, told the Kyiv Post.
The event’s lineup lists some of Ukraine’s most acclaimed labels including Frolov, Artisanal line by Litkovskaya, ArtemKlimchuk, Elena Burenina, Dzhus and others.
The program will feature both audiovisual presentations and runway shows set in the main site of Mystetskyi Arsenal gallery or other locations.
For the runway shows, Ukrainian Fashion Week will use digital decorations highlighting the “cyberpunk” theme of the event’s visual identity.
One of the program’s days is as usual dedicated to the New Generation of Fashion section introducing new names in the industry.
Another regular feature, the Be Sustainable! summit that aims to promote fashion sustainability, will focus on the digital tools for optimizing production.
Megogo will provide free access to the streaming of the Ukrainian Fashion Week for free. The shows will also be saved and available after streaming.
