‘Stone Hits Stone’

Kyiv’s renowned Pinchuk Art Center welcomes spring with the new exhibition. Called “Stone Hits Stone,” the new exhibition features artworks of Nikita Kadan, one of Ukraine’s most prominent contemporary artists. Combining the artist’s latest and early artworks, the “Stone Hits Stone,” is Kadan’s exploration of Ukrainian historical heritage with its political violence, as well as the Soviet-era utopia. Through his works, the artist also delves into the connection between Ukraine’s present and past challenges. The exhibition will kick off on Feb. 27 and will last until Aug. 15.

Kyiv’s iconic club Closer has announced the first night-time party after a quarantine break when the venue held only daytime get-togethers. This Saturday, local DJs Bohdan, Zolaa, Noizar and Bambu will make people dance their hearts out to the electronic music hits. It is the perfect way to welcome spring. The party will start at 11 p.m. and last until the early morning of Feb. 28. Entrance is Hr 200 before 12 a.m., and Hr 300 after midnight.

‘An Impossible Project’

“An Impossible Project” is a new documentary that has recently hit movie theaters in Ukraine. Directed by German filmmaker Jens Meurer, the film portrays the journey of Austrian biologist Florian Kaps and his attempt to save the last Polaroid factory in the world. The film made its world premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam this January. Now, it will be screened at Kyiv cinemas in English with Ukrainian subtitles.

Vsi Svoi Market of Shoes, Accessories 

It’s about time to get ready for the warm season and renew one’s wardrobe. Vsi Svoi, a company that promotes local production, will help with that. On the first weekend of March, the company arranges a market of Ukraine-made goods. The three-day event will feature nearly 180 local brands of purses, shoes, gloves, belts, wallets, hats, as well as various accessories and more. It is also a great chance to support Ukrainian businesses that have been struggling through the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Entrance to the market is free.
