Photo exhibition Bird in Flight Prize ’20

Walking in central Kyiv, one may find themselves at a photo exhibition. While mass gatherings are barred due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s photo exhibit “Bird in Flight Prize ’20” took its contestants’ photos to the streets of the Ukrainian capital, attaching them to construction fences.

This year 450 photographers from 53 countries submitted their applications to Bird in Flight Prize ’20, and now the exhibition showcases 10 best of them at different locations. See the locations on the online map of the exhibition.

The winner is Paola Jimenez Quispe, a contestant from Peru. His works are displayed on 12 Andriivskyi Descent (map).

People can experience the art online on the “Bird in Flight Prize ’20” website, where one can also find CCTV live streams from every location of the exhibit in Kyiv to see how people react to photos when they see them.

“Bird in Flight Prize ’20” is an international award that was established in 2018 by the Bird in Flight online magazine that specializes in photography and visual art.

Denis Salivanov’s Semi Life (art show)

A new art exhibition in Kyiv’s avant-garde gallery The Naked Room is dedicated to the feelings of an individual in the modern world. The author is Ukrainian artist Denis Salivanov, who specializes in media installations, various genres of painting, digital media, video, and sound. The artist has created artworks for this exhibition based on his observations of residents of Lviv, a western Ukrainian city where the artist’s workshop is located.

Like a Local’s wine bar’s birthday

One of the most famous Kyiv wine bars, Like a Local’s, which has a bar with over 40 kinds of Ukrainian wine, is celebrating its 4th anniversary. In honor of that, the bar will treat visitors with welcome drinks and offer tastings of some of the best Ukrainian wines. A local singer, meanwhile, will play acoustic guitar covers.

Hot air balloon festival will be held in VDNH on Dec. 3-4, 2020.

Hot air balloon festival

On Dec. 3 and Dec. 4, once the sun sets, dozens of hot air balloons will rise into the sky and perform a four-hour light show, accompanied by music.

For a fee, visitors can become a part of the show and board a balloon. Such a flight will last 10-12 minutes at an altitude of about 30 meters.
