Kyiv Critics Week

One of the most anticipated Kyiv film festivals has arrived. Kyiv Critics Week allows audience members to watch exclusive premiere screenings and discuss them with film critics and sometimes the directors themselves. This weekend program includes several anticipated films such as Kateryna Gornostai’s “Stop-Zemlia,” and Oleg Sentsov’s “Rhino.” All films will have English subtitles.

‘Such a Different Roitburd’

The Vakulenko Art Consulting Gallery is presenting the second half of the “Such a Different Roitburd” art exhibition. The project features some of the most famous works by the late renowned Ukrainian artist Oleksandr Roitburd. His artwork often features explicit and surreal imagery. This exhibit will include some of Roitburd’s most expensive pieces including “Roitburd vs. Caravaggio,” “If There Is No Water Running From Your Tap” and more. The artist died in August at the age of 59 due to a long-term illness.

Drift pre-Halloween party 

Drift techno party will be hosting a pre-Halloween rave this Sunday. The label has held several parties for a variety of locations and events including Hotel Salute and the afterparty for the Rave Pride protest. Featuring emerging techno artists, Drift encourages attendees to explore expression through music and dance. The lineup features a list of international techno DJs including Technokool from Budapest, Max Dewarvin and Kenji from Berlin, as well as local DJs Wallflower, 909Machine and Olha. The organizers encourage partygoers to wear Halloween-inspired outfits.

“To Whom It May Concern” 

The film program of the Kyiv Biennial forum “To Whom It May Concern” will screen alternative video art and films at the Cinema House. The program features works that explore humanity, technology and nature including shirt film “Mined Soil” by Portuguese director Filipa César and video from an installation by Berlin artist Angela Anderson called “Three (or More) Ecologies: A Feminist Articulation of Eco-intersectionality, Part I: For the World to Live, Patriarchy Must Die.” All films will have English subtitles.
