‘Annette’

The highly anticipated musical drama “Annette” will be available to see in English at Zhovten Cinema this weekend. The film stars renowned actors Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard. It tells the story of a stand-up comedian and an opera singer whose lives take an unexpected turn with the birth of their gifted daughter, Annette. Directed by French filmmaker Leos Carax, the picture received positive reviews from critics.

Street culture festival 

Kyiv is welcoming a new festival that will celebrate street culture. The event promises spectacular battles between eight local breakdancing schools, as well as battles between solo dancers. The skatepark zone will showcase skateboarding, roller skating, BMX and trick scooter contests. Another zone will host parkour battles. There will also be a street workout zone and games of street football and streetball, less strict variations of football and basketball.

Veselka

One of Ukraine’s most famous queer parties is back. This time, Veselka is collaborating with residents of Parisian queer rave Possession and Lviv queer party Neutral. The rave will take place in the Arsenal XXII club featuring Parisian DJ Parfait, Lviv DJs Danny Dier and Louwave live, as well as Kyiv DJs Nastya Muravyova, Tweeman and Vani Vachi. The dress code calls for leather, latex and chains.

‘30×30. Contemporary Ukrainian Art’

The new exhibit “30×30. Contemporary Ukrainian Art” will build on the recent celebration of Ukraine’s 30 years of independence. The exhibit features 30 works of art that reflect and represent Ukrainian contemporary art during independence. It will include pieces by Ukrainian artists such as Oleg Holosiy, Mykola Trokh, Oleksandr Hnylytsky, Stas Volyazlovsky, Oleksandr Roitburd and others. The book “30×30. Contemporary Ukrainian Art” will also be presented at the event.
