Kyivness Anniversary
Kyiv’s favorite vintage market is celebrating its 20th event. Held on the rooftop of the Kooperativ coworking space, the “Portrait of Simplicity” market will bring together local brands and vintage sellers offering clothes, books, decor, accessories and more.

‘We All Lived Once Upon A Time’
Alexander Chekmenev is a Ukrainian documentary photographer and photojournalist based in Kyiv. Originally from the eastern city of Luhansk, Chekmenev started his career by taking photos of people affected by the economical crisis and period of transition after the collapse of the Soviet Union. His photography provides a unique inside lens on the coal mining region, a defining feature of Eastern Ukraine, in the 1990s. His new exhibition, “We All Lived Once Upon A Time,” features a series of photographs taken in the 1990s, mostly in Luhansk, but also Kyiv, Odesa, Poltava and other cities. Chekmenov’s exhibits travel around the world and are not often available in Kyiv. His last exhibit in the capital was back in 2018.

Comic Con Ukraine
One of the most anticipated pop culture festivals, Comic Con Ukraine, is back. The event brings together international pop culture stars such as Mark Dacascos from “John Wick,” Natalia Tena and Anna Shaffer from the “Harry Potter” film series. The festival will hold a grand cosplay show, a dog cosplay contest and various game tournaments. It will also offer autograph and selfie sessions with the star guests.

Standard Deviation label party
The label of Kyiv’s famous techno club located on Kyrylivska Street is celebrating its first birthday. Named Standard Deviation, the electronic music label is hosting a party at the club on Sept. 3. The lineup features the label’s artists such as Diana Azzuz, Rina Priduvalova, Nene H, M.E.S.H and Swan Meat. Other DJs who will play at the celebration include Omon Breaker, Panghoud, D.Dan and Ars Was Taken. During this event, the club’s regulars will notice a change in the dance floors, as the previous staircase lounge will be turned into a second DJ hall.

Ukraine vs. France
Ukraine and France will go head to head for the World Cup qualifying match this Saturday. The two countries played to a 1-1 draw when they launched their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign in March. Ukraine’s football team performed unexpectedly well during the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship and many fans are looking forward to this match.
