 Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovych traveled to Russia on March 4 to negotiate a new gas deal and other hot issues in the bilateral relations. But despite spending hours in one to one conversations behind the closed door in Vladimir Putin’s residence in Tver, the presidents seemed to make no progress. Russian media reported that Yanukovych emerged from the conversation at 2 a.m. and looked irritated. He declined to stay in Tver overnight, and his plane left for home around 3 a.m. Very few details about the presidents’ conversation have emerged in the following days, excepting a few general statements that the parties were making progress in negotiations
