The Healthy & Happy medical clinic in central Kyiv received blistering criticism after its medical personnel did not provide prompt help to a stabbing victim who was dying across the street from the clinic.
The receptionist told witnesess that all doctors were busy and that the
clinic has a policy requiring appointments. The police also turned to
the clinic, but received the same response. Only after a scandal broke
out, a doctor finally emerged but the man died shortly after the
physician administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The chief doctor
of the clinic said the receptionist lacked experience and that other
doctors were busy with patients. The police and Health Ministry are
investigating. Medical workers are required by law and ethics to provide
emergency medical care.
