On May 2, Ukraine’s state agency for food safety suspended the export of chicken meat to the Customs Union countries of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia, following the latter’s allegations of contamination.

Producers, however, claim their tests have not revealed any traces of samlonella or listeria the Russians claimed to find, which fueled speculation that Ukraine’s chickens are the latest target of a new trade war with Russia.
