Ukraine’s Constitutional Court ruled on June 5 that limiting the size of pensions for judges is unconstitutional. The ceiling for privileged pensions for judges and other types of officials was introduced during the pension reform that came into effect in October 2011.

The reform increased pension age in Ukraine and attempted to close the
gap between ordinary pensioners and former government officials, whose
pensions and perks had previously been set by separate laws. The
Constitutional Court ruling that chips away at the pension reform cannot
be reversed or appealed.
