Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made several slips of a tongue in his speech on Aug. 8, referring to the part of Luhansk under the control of Russian-backed armed groups as the “Laos Republic.
Lavrov also mispronounced the name of the Luhansk separatist leader,
Igor Plotnitsky. Next, Lavrov referred to the Luhansk separatists’
territory as “the Luhansk People’s Democratic Republic,” rather than
just the “Luhansk People’s Republic.”
