NEWS ITEM: Ukraine’s national security depends on how well Ukrainians speak English, according to Oleksiy Danilov, secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. Danilov told a March 9 “Ukraine 30” forum that English should become Ukraine’s second language for the country to stay safe from the threat of Russia, which, apart sponsoring the war in eastern Ukraine, wages a war of ideas through its propaganda machine. “So we should make ourselves safe in the future. We should recognize that the English language is the fundamental precondition for the safety of the nation,” Danilov said.
