NEWS ITEM: Ukrainian oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky has allegedly directed hundreds of millions of dollars from PrivatBank, which he owned before its 2016 nationalization, into the U.S., where Kolomoisky and his partners bought at least 22 properties, according to an investigation by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalism (ICIJ) and BuzzFeed News published on Sept. 20. Kolomoisky is currently under investigation in the United States for alleged money laundering. The cross-border journalistic investigation revealed how banks and regulators allowed $2 trillion in dirty money — including some from Ukraine — to move abroad unchecked.
