NEWS ITEM: At least 10,000 people protested in central Kyiv on Oct. 6 against President Volodymyr Zelensky’s approach to ending the war by allowing local elections in the now-occupied territories of eastern Ukraine. Many of the protesters were veterans and their families. The only response from the administration was a Facebook post from its Chief of Staff Andriy Bohdan where he claimed it was a fake protest and protesters were paid to show up. It was in a similar way that ex-President Viktor Yanukovych’s people dismissed the protests that started the EuroMaidan Revolution in 2013.
