NEWS ITEM: Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said on Dec. 4 that investigators had identified the man who ordered the murder of Kateryna Gandziuk, a local official and anti-corruption campaigner from Kherson, a southern Ukrainian city, who was attacked with acid in July and died in hospital three months later. However, instead of trying to arrest the suspect, the prosecutor general publicly made a statement, identifying him by name. The man in question has reportedly left Ukraine. Gandziuk family’s lawyer Yevhenia Zakrevska denounced Lutsenko’s actions, saying he was hurting the investigation, not helping it.
