NEWS ITEM: On Dec. 2, the Ukrainian government ruled to lift the so-called weekend lockdown, which was imposed for three weekends to curb the spread of COVID-19. Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said on Nov. 30 that these restrictions had not brought about the expected results because people and businesses ignored them. On Dec. 3, however, Stepanov said that the weekend lockdown had been effective and the number of new COVID-19 cases dropped slightly.
