NEWS ITEM: Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Fatou Bensouda has called for a full-scale investigation of crimes in eastern Ukraine and in Crimea. Although this is positive news, the move is long overdue: Russia started its war in Ukraine and annexed Crimea back in 2014. It took the ICC prosecutors six years and over 13,000 lives to “announce that the statutory criteria for opening investigations into the situation in Ukraine are met.”
