Kyiv on June 10 hosted the 5th Kyiv Color Run, during which participants are sprinkled with brightly colored powder paints.
The object of the “race” is to not to win, but to have fun and raise money for charity. Participants choose from a range of distances, 3 or 6 kilometers for adults, and shorter distances for children and pet dogs. The race route went up and down Velyka Vasylkyivska Street in central Kyiv, with participants being showered in colored powders at points along the way.
The proceeds of this year’s race in the Ukrainian capital will, as usual, be used to support children suffering from cancer.
Since the first event of this kind was held in the United States in January 2012, the Color Run has spread across the globe, leaving a trail of color and happy runners.
