Art Arsenal hosts Kyiv's third international book fair, bringing together well-known Ukrainian and foreign writers, publishers and all breeds of book addicts. The week-long event includes numerous book exhibitions, live music concerts and offers several lounge zones for visitors to chill out.

The latest survey by Research & Branding group shows that over half of all Ukrainians don’t read books. This is one of reasons behind the book fair, which aims to popularize reading.

This year’s star guests are Polish writers Janusz Leon Wisniewski and Barbara Kosmowska (whose books for teenagers are now part of the school curriculum), and Christoph Simon from Switzerland who presented his novel “A lot of
good for a small price,” translated into Ukrainian.

Ukrainian writers Yuriy Andrukhovych, Yurko Izdryk, Maryana Savka, and Bogdana Matiyash will read their favorite books to the audience during the festival’s night-time program.

There is also a special program for children, with an international exhibition of the most beautiful children’s books from 40 countries. The very youngest can come and combine play with learning at the Arsenal of Ideas, created with the help of Microsoft Ukraine and charity foundation “Mystetskyi Arsenal.”

Book Arsenal is open every day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. until June 2. Children enter free, entrance fee is Hr 20 for everyone else.
