More than a dozen government and business representatives in Ukraine came together on Sept. 4 for the 3rd Kyiv Post CEO Breakfast and debated Ukraine's economic strategy.
The event, which took place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kyiv, was sponsored by DHL Express Ukraine and Syutkin & Partners law firm.
The debated topics included tax policy, deregulation, the growth of the shadow economy, ways to stop corruption, constitutional reform, civil service reform and rule of law.
Several in attendance described the government as articulating a clear strategy, but one that was still being resisted in its implementation by powerful interests in government and business.
Ukraine’s official economy is expected to shrink below $100 billion this year. Russia’s war against Ukraine has exacerbated the situation, contributing to an investor climate of uncertainty as Ukraine tries to reorient its economy from Russia to the European Union.
