Crimean Tatars rallied in central Kyiv on June 26 to celebrate Crimean Tatar Flag Day.
About a hundred people carried a an 85-meter Crimean Tatar flag down Khreshchatik Street to Maidan Nezalezhnosti and held a rally on the square.
The Crimean Tatar flag has the same colors as the Ukrainian flag: It is blue with a yellow tamga — a traditional Crimean Tatar symbol.
Since Russia occupied Crimea in March 2014, many Crimean Tatars have left the peninsula for mainland Ukraine, settling in Kyiv, Lviv, and other big cities.
